Department of the Army

IAI migrated a poorly functioning automated caseload tracking system from a minicomputer-based platform and software to a PC-based system. In the course of the migration project, IAI revamped the custom code developed for the caseload tracking system to provide better reporting, make the system more user-friendly, and create an environment that is more flexible and easier to upgrade using in-house resources. The project was done at the direction of the Office of the Judge Advocate General's Contract Appeals Division ("CAD"), which had previously contracted with a third-party firm to write the custom application for an office that handles more than a thousand cases each year.

For the Department of the Army, IAI currently has a staff of IT professionals performing maintenance and support of the Headquarters Army Civilian Personnel System (HQ ACPERS). HQ ACPERS contains funding, personnel, and training data related to the Army civilian workforce that supports the Army user community worldwide. IAI personnel use APS, COBOL, Datacom, CICS, EASYTRIEVE, UNIX, ORACLE, HTML (Homesite) and PERL to support a weekly and monthly Batch Update process, an On-Line Screen subsystem, Ad Hoc request fulfillment, File Extracts, WEB Development and a Reporting subsystem. These applications provide Congress and the Department of the Army with a wide range of standardized and customized reports from the information contained in the database.
